Investing in the youth of the territory by giving them the tools and knowledge to impose themselves in the world of fashion: this was the mission of DRACHMA (De Rubertis Academy of Fashion), founded in 1997 by Maurizio De Rubertis following the family tradition of couture.
In twenty-five years of activity, DRAM has trained dozens of new professionals in the textile field, today struggling with personal fashion collections and collaborations with leading brands on the international scene: “the greatest satisfaction for us at DRAM is to see our students achieve – said director Maurizio De Rubertis – also through a series of partnerships with the most important companies in the sector that offer our students the opportunity to participate in internships and days training in world-renowned workshops”.
“Despite the crisis that has hit our sector during these two years of pandemic, to which today is added the weight of the war in Ukraine – declared Maurizio De Rubertis – DRAM continues to bet on the young talents of the region and , on the occasion of the first 25 years of activity, we have organized a series of initiatives to allow new generations to approach the world of fashion”.
It starts with the Training Week, a completely free training week dedicated to young people from Puglia, an opportunity for budding students to attend, from May 16 to 19, a course with DRAM teachers that includes the study a mini collection of clothes (accademiaderubertis.it program).
Also in May, the DRAM Days arrive, four Sundays – from May 15 to June 5 – during which it will be possible to visit the headquarters, in via Mazzini n.124 in Taranto, to meet the teachers who will illustrate the DRAM courses (info social channels and the academiaderubertis website .it).
The DRAM training offer includes targeted specialization courses – which can be taken face-to-face, online or in hybrid mode – with an in-depth study of disciplines such as modelling, fashion design, packaging, pattern design 2D and 3D. Among the exclusive teaching techniques is the De Rubertis modeling method, developed after many years of study by director Maurizio De Rubertis, which allows a pattern to be created without the aid of “patented supports”.
Over the years, the Academy has invested considerable resources in innovative technologies that use computer tools and CAD software dedicated to clothing design. DRAM has in fact entered into a synergistic relationship with Lectra, a company known worldwide for the creation of software and automation solutions for fashion design, of which it is the exclusive agent in Puglia for the Modaris and Modaris PGS courses.
Among the most frequented and complete DRAM training courses is the Fashion Design training, divided into three levels, which consists of learning the techniques of creating the fashion figure by hand and on the computer, using the Kaledo software developed by Lectra, and the acquisition of modeling and technical manufacturing for the artisanal creation of men’s and women’s clothing. Support from Lectra programs, including Modaris and Diamino, is essential to achieve the high-level preparation required by fashion companies today.
