The shop Versus change skin. Last weekend brothers Andrew And Simone de Tommasi inaugurated the new store concept at Largo Madonna delle Grazie in Maglie, province of Lecce. The owners have chosen an original formula that relies on artistic contamination. The 500 square meter shop on three levels (one of which is used as a warehouse) was born as an oil mill in 1700 and also includes a large terrace overlooking the main street of the town. On the occasion of the opening, the outdoor space hosted the live performance of the singer-songwriter Morgan followed by the dj set of Andro / Andrea Marianoband keyboardist Negramaro.
“We wanted to rethink the identity of the store, as intense as an open container that includes fashion, culture, art, music, technology. The environments were designed by Piergiorgio Semerano who kept the star vaults and the whitewashed Lecce stone to which he added iron elements,” explains Andrea De Tommasi. Currently, the store hosts around 15 brands, some of which are not widely distributed in other stores in the area. We go from the workbench Dsquared2, Kenzo, Like boys And stone island to experimental sneakers by Landsjapanese brand Mikio Sakabe or brand DSA (acronym for The Daily Sketchbook Archives) by Aitor Group. Collaboration with Milan showrooms tomorrow And 247 leads to precise research on the contemporary and international high streetwear scene. “We are working to increasingly strengthen omnichannel, not between stores and e-commerce with the click & collect formula, but also between our points of sale, to always offer new services to customers”, adds Simone De Tomasi.
Contre is part of the White 7 group, present in Salento for more than fifty years, which includes three stores in Lecce and one in Otranto ranging from the luxury segment for ceremonies to sportswear: “Each store has its own identity, a project for itself. We maintain consistency in strategy and seriousness in management. This year we aim to increase our web growth, in 2023 we will invest more in the digital channel and in the internal organizational structure”, explain the entrepreneurs to White 7 closed 2021 with a consolidated turnover of 7 million euros, e-commerce represents 25% of sales.
White 7’s story begins in 1967 when Osvaldo de Tommasifather of Andrea and Simone, opens the homonymous shop in the heart of Lecce, supported and flanked by his wife Silvana. At the beginning of the 80s, the store welcomed some of the protagonists of the nascent made in Italy such as Krizia, Mila Shon And Trussardi. De Tommasi also inaugurates one of the first stores Emporio Armani in southern Italy, followed by the Contre boutique in Lecce, aimed at a younger audience, as evidenced by the long-lasting collaboration with Maxime Ostme, founder of CP Company And stone island.
